After over ten years in showbiz, Jolina Magdangal shows no sign of slowing down. The multi-talented star has already made her mark in singing, acting and hosting. Now, she is releasing her third record under GMA Records entitled “Destiny,” a collection of ten love songs that are a mix of pop ballads and upbeat tunes.
The album opens with the carrier single “Will of the Wind,” which is also the theme song of her upcoming movie produced by GMA Films, I.T.A.L.Y. The two other English revivals on the record are “When I Fall In Love” and Fra Lippo Lippi's “Stitches and Burns.” On the former track, Jolina adds an upbeat twist to the somber classic. The only other English song on the album is “When I Close My Eyes.”
“Pangako Ng Puso” and “Umibig Ka” are heartfelt pleas to love, expressing both the frustrations and patience of the heart. Patience is also a theme of “Isang Taon,” as well as the loneliness of being apart from one's love. “Buksan Ang 'yong Puso” plays along similar lines of struggles in a relationship, but it has a hopeful tone and strong faith. On the other hand, “Hanggang Kailan” resonates with questions about the lastingness of love. “Tuwing Kasama Kita” makes a stark contrast against these themes with its optimistic and exhilarating message.
Though the songs cover a variety of emotions, Jolina takes on each one with such earnestness that one can easily relate to. It goes to show that as the years go by, this star just gets brighter and brighter. Jolina is certainly destined to captivate her listeners with her latest release!
