First known as a finalist on Philippine Idol, Reymond Sajor has since earned a greater honor. In 2007, he took home the title of Grand Champion Senior Vocalist of the World from the World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood, making an impact with his rendition of “Anthem,” a song from the musical “Chess.” Along with the title, he also brought home two gold and two silvers medals, one industry award and two plaques. Now, Reymond is set to make big waves back home with his debut release “Coming Home”!
The album opens with the title track, which is also the carrier single, composed by Nashville-based Andrew Fromm, who has also written songs for the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Westlife and Marc Anthony. The general tone of the album one of hope and optimism, and this is highlighted in “Counting Down The Days,” which is about letting go and moving on, “Stand,” and “I'll Be There.” Inspiration and encouragement abound in “I Looked Into the Wings” and “You Should Know Me By Know.” Reymond sings about making changes and getting things right in “I Think I'll Try,” then mellows down in “Love Me Again.” True to his roots as a balladeer, he amps up the romance as he gives a beautiful and heartfelt rendition of “Be My Lady.” Reymond also showcases his versatility and vocal prowess in his version of “Nella Fantasia,” which was popularized by Il Divo and Sarah Brightman. The album closes with his WCOPA winning piece “Anthem.” Here, listeners can hear for themselves why Reymond deserved the title of Grand Champion.
Though he is just making his debut in the local music scene, “Coming Home” proves that Reymond is no newcomer to music. His vocals are polished and his style versatile, effortlessly shifting from ballads to alternative to classical. The album is a delightful collection of pop beats and smooth grooves that makes a truly fine listening treat!
