Jolina Magdangal
Born on November 6, 1978, Jolina Magdangal has already made her mark in both singing and acting since she entered the show business in 1992. Her entrance into the business was through the musical group of Ryan Cayabyab called 14-K. The group's last performance on “Ryan, Ryan Musikahan” proved to be a turning point for the young Jolina, since it was then that Johnny Manahan noticed her and asked her to guest in the sitcom “Mana.”
After that, she was invited to join “Ang TV,” the daily television show that targetted teens, where she starred alongside the likes of Claudine Barretto, Patrick Garcia, Rica Paralejo, and Angelu de Leon. It was in this hit series that Jolina made a major breakthrough in the business. As her popularity rose, she started appearing in television and print ads, with over 30 product endorsements to date.

Jolina's debut on the big screen was in the 1995 movie “Hataw Na!,” which was soon followed by “Ama, Ina, Anak” in 1995 and “Radio Romance” in 1996. Since then, she has starred in a number of movies, the latest of which is “Lovestruck,” released in 2005.

The young star released her first album entitled “A Wish Come True” in 1996. A couple of years later, she released a self-titled, selling more than 200,000 units, which earned her a quintuple platinum award. This was followed by “On Memory Lane” in 2000, which went quadruple platinum. Jolina went on to record “Red Alert: All Dance Remix” in 2000, “Panaginip: Platinum Hits Collection” in 2001, “Jolina Sings the Masters” in 2002, and “Jolina Forever” and “The Jolina Magdangal Anthology” in 2004. In January 2006, she released her latest album under GMA Records entitled “Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Awit.” Aside from her solo albums, she has also recorded songs included in various collections.

This month, Jolina is releasing a new record entitled “Destiny.” With both originals and revivals, the album contains ten love songs in English and Tagalog. The carrier single is her version of “Will of the Wind,” which is also the theme of her upcoming movie entitled “Italy,” produced by GMA Films.

Jolina also currently appears in several GMA-7 programs. A mainstay of “SOP,” she was one of the judges in Pinoy Idol and is the co-host of Marvin Agustin in the weekly program “Dear Friend.”

Throughout her showbiz career, Jolina has earned several titles, such as “Princess of Heart,” “Teenage Fashion Icon of Philippine Show Business,” “Movie Theme Song and Soundtrack Queen,” and “Commercial Princess.” She has also received many awards, including Young Achiever Award from the Foundation for Gifted Children in 1997, Gawad KKK Award for Outstanding Youth in the Field of Entertainment from the National Centennial Commission in 1998, Young Achievement Awardee from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences in 1999, and Best Female Singer and Entertainer of the Year Award from the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation in 2000, to name a few.
